WORLD YOUTH DAY
July 2008



You will need to apply for a Tourist visa (Subclass 676) in order to attend World Youth Day. As a registered pilgrim you will be entitled to apply for your visa free of Australian Government visa application charges by following the process detailed below. You should also check your local Australian Immigration Office website for any additional requirements.

To make a paper application follow these steps:
1. Register online to attend World Youth Day (See: www.wyd2008.org)
2. Print a copy of the application form (number 48R) complete all questions and sign it. Please note that this form is available in several languages from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website (www.immi.gov.au).
3. If you are under 18: Print out a copy of the parental consent form (number 1229) and ask your parents or guardians to complete it. You will also need to submit evidence of your relationship with your parent/guardian (for example, a copy of your full birth certificate showing the names of both parents) and a copy of identification for your parent/guardian showing their signature (for example, a passport).
4. The following supporting documentation will need to be provided with your application:


(i). Passport for each applicant
(ii). ONE current passport photo per person
(iii). Applicants over 70 years include ONE extra photo as medicals will be required. (iv). Birth certificate of each applicant (certified copy)
(v). Completed Family Composition Sheet for each applicant (Click here)
(vi). Completed Supplementary Form for each applicant (Click here)
(vii). Evidence of marital status eg. Marriage/Divorce certificate
(viii). Evidence of funds (from you or your support person) in the form of a bank statement or passbook, showing account balance over a period of at least 3 months. Original bank statements are required and will not be returned.
(ix). If employed, confirmation of employment and leave
(x). If visiting a relative or friend, evidence of their status in Australia (eg. Copy of Australian passport, citizenship papers or permanent residence visa) AND a letter of support including intended period of stay, intended activities in Australia and level of accommodation and financial support to be provided


5. To authorize another person to act and receive communication on your behalf – complete Form 956. The authorized person will need to provide photographic identification when making collections.
6. Print and attach a copy of the World Youth Day registration, which you obtained when registering on the World Youth Day website.
7. Lodge your application with supporting documents at the following Australian Immigration Office:
